China Eastern Airlines launches new Vienna–Xi’an route with 3 weekly flights using A330-200. Service begins April 20, boosting Europe–China links

Shanghai-based state-owned aviation transportation group in China with a fleet of 800 aircraft, China Eastern Airlines, has announced the official launch of its new Vienna (VIE)-Xi'an (XIY) service starting today, April 20, 2026.

The new route will feature three weekly round-trips (scheduled on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays via Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Booking is already open on the airline's official website. The new route will strengthen connectivity between Northwest China and Central Europe.

The airline, which belongs to the SkyTeam Alliance, has one of the world's youngest fleets and also boasts "the largest-scale widebody fleet with leading commercial and technical models in China."

The company is also best known as "the global launch customer for the domestically manufactured C919 aircraft," while operating the largest C919 fleet and serving the most commercial routes.
