American Airlines, in collaboration with the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Tourism, will start operating a daily direct flight from Miami International Airport (MIA) to La Romana (LRM) in the Dominican Republic.

"This historic route further strengthens American's extensive network in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America," state officials at the world's largest airline.

La Romana is a well-known tourist city and the third largest in the Dominican Republic. The local airport in the city is also named Casa de Campo, and the city is famous for its immense sugar cane fields.

The new route to La Romana joins more than 415 daily flights in peak season, connecting more than 155 destinations that can be flown directly from Miami Airport.

This winter, American Airlines is operating its largest flight schedule ever, with more seats and more flights from Miami than ever before. The company announced that strengthening air connections between Miami and the Dominican Republic will provide passengers with new opportunities to travel comfortably and enjoy the spectacular beaches, rich culture, and unique attractions that La Romana has to offer.

At the festive event for launching the flight, senior American Airlines officials and local government representatives participated, expressing satisfaction with the new destination connection and the successful collaborations to promote tourism and trade between the countries.

The Dominican Republic is considered a rapidly developing destination much loved by travelers worldwide and is the second-largest country in the Caribbean.

La Romana is located in the southeast of the Dominican Republic, along the shores of the Caribbean Sea, and is known for its stunning beaches, luxurious resorts, and fascinating cultural and historical sites.

Luxury networks and international brands have established operations in recent years; for instance, the Four Seasons chain and Cisneros Real Estate announced over a year ago plans to develop the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia, a luxurious destination stretching across 60 acres along the pristine beach of Playa Esmeralda in the northeast Dominican Republic, along the southern shores of Samana Bay. The project will combine the network's famous hospitality and service and is expected to open at the beginning of 2026.

The Hyatt hotel chain has also expanded its activity in the Dominican Republic and Latin America in recent years with a range of new hotels to be established in the coming years in Latin America.
