At this year’s eMerge Americas, "premier technology conference shaping the future of innovation," Miami-Dade County stepped into the spotlight with a series of new technologies aimed at improving how people move through its airport and seaport.
The biggest reveal came from Miami International Airport, where officials introduced what they describe as the world’s first AI-powered hologram chatbot system. The feature is already live at four key locations across the airport, offering travelers real-time help through a more interactive format.

It is designed to work across multiple platforms, including mobile devices, kiosks, and on-site digital screens, giving travelers consistent support from arrival to boarding.
The hologram assistants were developed in partnership with Mappedin, Satisfi Labs, and Hypervsn. The goal is to make navigation through the airport simpler, especially for first-time visitors or those with tight connections.
PortMiami Introduces Cleaning Robots and Traffic Analyzers
At the same time, PortMiami presented its own set of upgrades. Known as the Cruise Capital of the World, the port is testing new tools to improve daily operations and reduce delays.
Among them are robotic cleaning systems developed by WorkWise, which assist maintenance teams and help keep terminals running smoothly. Another addition comes from GridMatrix, whose platform analyzes traffic patterns to improve how cargo and passengers move through the port.
“These are practical tools that can make a noticeable difference,” officials said, pointing to faster processing times and better overall efficiency.
Mayor Daniella Levine Cava highlighted the broader goal behind the rollout.
“This is what the future looks like, and it’s being built right here in Miami-Dade. We’re not just keeping pace with innovation. We’re leading it, harnessing artificial intelligence to transform how we serve our visitors and our community every day. From our airport to our seaport, we are creating a smarter, more connected, and truly future-ready Miami-Dade.”
Together, the airport and port initiatives show how the county is using new technology in practical ways, focusing on smoother travel, clearer information, and more efficient operations.le
