American Airlines has announced a major update to its mobile app, part of a broader effort to improve the customer experience. The update focuses on making the app a central tool for managing your flight, from booking to arrival.

The new version features a redesigned flight details page, which acts as a control center for all aspects of your trip. Users can navigate through flight details, check-in, access their boarding pass, and track their booking status more quickly and conveniently. Actions like seat selection, adding baggage, upgrading, or changing and canceling flights are now all in one place.

The app also now includes improved disruption support, with real-time information and updates alongside relevant action options. The changes are designed to make it easier for passengers to deal with unexpected changes to their flight plans.

As part of the update, passengers can purchase priority boarding directly through the app at check-in, including priority access to carry-on baggage storage and use of dedicated screening lanes where available. AAdvantage members can also purchase additional miles at a reduced cost during check-in.

Additional features are expected to be introduced later this year, including navigation maps within airports that will display routes between gates and estimated walking times, as well as the ability to split joint reservations into several separate reservations in the event of a change in one of the passengers' plans.

The company notes that the application continues to develop according to passenger needs, with an emphasis on ease of use, flexibility, and accessibility to real-time information.
