The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises British nationals to "follow the advice of the local authorities and your airline", and solely travel to the Kuwait International Airport if they deem it "safe to do so."

The new advisory comes in light of the recently opened Kuwait airspace and the resumption of some flights to a "limited range of destinations."

UK citizens who "judge it is safe" to exit the country using land border crossings into Saudi Arabia, can opt for either Al Salmi / Ar-Ruqi and Al Nuwaisib / Al-Khafji (both currently open).

The FCDO also advises possible travelers to thoroughly consult the Travel Advice for  Saudi Arabia to make sure they possess the right documents, or they may risk being denied entry.

If choosing to travel by car, you can only do so provided the respective vehicle is wholly owned and registered in your name. If you wish to rely on commercial options, make sure to check for the latest airline or tour operator updates and closely follow instructions from the local authorities. Also, you are advised to check the current status of the selected border crossing.

"Make sure you have access to emergency supplies and essential medication. Travel within or out of Kuwait is at your own risk," added the FCDO.

If you require an exit permit, you need to apply for it using the Sahel App. In case your employer or sponsor refuses to issue the said permit "without a valid legal or financial reason" like an outstanding fine, bank dues, or residency validity, you should be able to appeal through the Public Authority of Manpower (PAM).
