The Aeroitalia airline is renewing the direct flights between Rome and Milan in Italy.
For the first time since October 2020, the Italian airline is bringing back the direct route between Milan Malpensa Airport and Rome Fiumicino with three daily flights using ATR72 planes.
Starting yesterday, January 26, 2025, Aeroitalia, the Italian airline, is restoring the direct route between Italy's two largest airports – Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino.
This is significant news after four years without regular air service between Italy's two most important airports.
The flights will operate three times a day on ATR72 aircraft with 68 seats.
Flight Schedule:
- From Milan Malpensa: 07:10, 11:50, 18:40.
- From Rome Fiumicino: 09:30, 15:00, 21:10.
Gaetano Intrieri, CEO of Aeroitalia: "In my opinion, it was an anomaly that the two main airports in Italy were not connected by a direct flight. The demand seems to be high from the start, and I have no doubt the route will continue to operate for a long time."
For many years, business bodies in Italy and local politicians have called for the return of the route, which will enable easier connections to international destinations from both airports.

AeroItalia, the new Italian low-cost airline, began operations in 2022 with domestic flights in Italy from its main base at Milan-Bergamo Airport.
The Italian airline had already planned and published an expanded flight schedule by the end of 2022, which was supposed to include various international routes starting March 26, 2023, including 3 weekly flights on the route to Tel Aviv.
The intended flights to Tel Aviv for which tickets were sold in advance online were canceled, and in fact, not a single flight took place.
