An incident involving the police is currently taking place in the center of Leipzig, Germany, after a vehicle hit several people on Grimmaische Straße and fled the scene.

In an announcement on X, the Leipzig-Center Police said that the driver of the vehicle was arrested and that at this stage he no longer poses a danger to the public.

The statement also said that emergency forces are operating at the scene, and the public is asked to leave access roads open for rescue vehicles and to follow the instructions of the police on the scene.

The circumstances of the incident are still being investigated.
