2 Dead, 3 Injured: Small Plane Crashes Into Building in the Middle of a Busy Brazilian City

A single-engine plane crashed into a residential building in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, killing two and injuring three. Rescue teams responded with seven vehicles

A small aircraft crash in the Silveira neighborhood of Belo Horizonte, ranked as Brazil's sixth-largest city with 2.4 million people. The crash took the lives of two people and injured three others on Tuesday, May 4, 2026, according to Brazil’s fire department, the Military Fire Department of Minas Gerais (CBMMG).

The incident involved a single-engine plane that crashed into a three-story residential building, triggering a large emergency response from the CBMMG. 

Emergency crews were quickly deployed, with seven fire service vehicles sent to the scene to assist with rescue operations, containment, and debris removal.

Early reports confirmed that five people were on board at the time of the crash. Two victims were found trapped inside the wreckage and later confirmed dead at the scene.

Three other occupants were rescued alive but sustained serious injuries. They were transported to the hospital by SAMU teams for urgent treatment.

Victims Identified

According to updated information released by firefighters, the victims included the pilot, a 34-year-old man, and a 36-year-old passenger seated in the co-pilot position. Both died in the crash.

The surviving passengers include a 50-year-old man, a 25-year-old man identified as the son of one of the passengers, and a 53-year-old man. 

Aviation and civil authorities are expected to carry out a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading up to the impact, including mechanical condition, flight path, and weather conditions at the time.
