Last night (Friday, May 8, 2026), a passenger breached security at Denver International Airport, climbed the perimeter fence, and ran toward the runway as a Frontier Airlines plane began taking off.
"The trespasser on the runway was then struck by Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 during takeoff at high speed. The pilot stopped takeoff procedures immediately. The Frontier plane was then quickly evacuated while law enforcement and firefighters responded," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
After the impact, the flight crew immediately stopped the takeoff, and the plane quickly evacuated. Police and fire departments were called to the scene. According to initial reports, 12 people were injured during the incident, and five of them were taken to hospital for treatment.
Local authorities are conducting the investigation into the incident, with assistance from the US Federal Aviation Administration and the TSA.
