SkyTeam officially announced today (February 3, 2025) that Italian airline ITA is leaving the alliance as it joins the Lufthansa Group.
Photo: Lufthansa Shortly after, the Lufthansa Group, whose members returned to Israel this week, released a statement saying, "Starting today, Miles & More members can earn and redeem miles on ITA Airways flights, and Volare members can earn and redeem points on flights of airlines in the Lufthansa Group. Additionally, ITA Airways will join Star Alliance and will change terminals in Frankfurt and Munich."
Photo: Shutterstock According to SkyTeam's announcement, today "ITA Airways ends its membership in the alliance. SkyTeam, its member airlines, and ITA Airways are working closely to ensure a smooth transition for customers and partners during the exit phase, ending on April 30, 2025."
SkyTeam advised customers "to consult directly with airlines concerning SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus benefits, SkyPriority services, lounge access, and earning and redeeming miles with ITA Airways. On behalf of SkyTeam and its member airlines, we thank ITA Airways for three years of partnership and wish the airline all the best."
