Police in Sussex, UK, have launched an investigation after the bodies of three women were recovered from the sea near Madeira Drive early Wednesday morning (May 13, 2026)
Emergency services were called to the area at around 5.45 a.m. following concerns for the welfare of three women in the water off the Brighton seafront.
Despite the response from emergency crews, all three women were pronounced dead after being recovered from the sea.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, while investigations remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Chief Superintendent Adam Hays: "This is a tragic incident and fast-moving enquiries are ongoing to confirm the identities of these three women and understand exactly what has happened.
“I know this is concerning for the community, but I would ask the public to stay away from the scene at this time while emergency services continue their work.
“We will provide further updates as soon as they are available.”
