The longest-running expedition travel company in the world, HX Expeditions, is expanding its Greenland portfolio with a series of new immersive cultural, culinary, and adventure experiences designed to bring travelers closer to the people and traditions of the Arctic.

The expedition cruise company announced that the new offerings will be available from June 2026 through the 2027 season aboard several of its expedition vessels, including MS Fram, MS Roald Amundsen, MS Spitsbergen, MS Fridtjof Nansen, and others operating in Greenland waters.

The Greenlandic Culinary Program Is Back

Developed in partnership with local Greenlandic communities, chefs, guides, and tour operators, the new experiences focus on authentic cultural engagement, regional cuisine, outdoor exploration, and sustainable tourism.

One of the highlights is the return of HX Expeditions’ Greenlandic culinary program, first introduced in 2025. Created with renowned Greenlandic chef Inunnguaq Hegelund, the onboard dining experience showcases Arctic flavors using locally sourced ingredients from Greenlandic suppliers such as Neqi A/S, Royal Greenland, and Qajaq Brewery.

Guests sailing on selected voyages will enjoy a four-course tasting menu featuring Greenlandic ingredients prepared with modern culinary techniques, along with live cooking demonstrations and storytelling sessions exploring the country’s food traditions.

Additional guest chefs joining the program include Laasi Biilmann, Eli Nuka Johansson, and Heidi Andersen, each bringing regional interpretations of Greenlandic cuisine to the ships throughout the season.

"Tide to Table" Excursions

HX is also launching a new “Tide to Table” culinary excursion aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen. The small group experience allows travelers to fish alongside local Greenlandic fishermen using traditional Inuit techniques before enjoying a locally hosted kaffemik gathering and an exclusive chef-prepared dinner onboard.

Menu highlights include halibut tartare with soy-cured egg yolk, puffed rice and horseradish emulsion, shrimp bisque with baked cod and dill oil, and “Apple cake 2026” with ice cream, salted caramel, champagne sauce and sweet codskin tuile.

Multi-Day Wilderness Adventures, Kayaking, and Boat Trips to the Fjords

The company is also introducing “Into the Elements: Greenland Experience,” a multi-day wilderness adventure in South Greenland limited to just nine guests per departure. The excursion combines hiking, science-focused boat tours, glamping accommodations, storytelling sessions, and guided exploration of remote Arctic landscapes.

According to Karin Strand, Vice President of Expedition Development for HX Expeditions, the experience is designed for travelers seeking a deeper connection with Greenland beyond standard cruise excursions.

Alongside these flagship programs, HX is adding new kayaking tours, guided Inuit-led walks, Disko Bay excursions, and boat trips to the Ikka Fjords, known for their rare underwater mineral formations.

The company said all Greenland experiences are covered by its newly introduced HX Greenland Promise, offering additional booking flexibility and traveler protection for Arctic expeditions.
