The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has informed the public of a current outage "impacting business and traveler CBSA systems, including Primary Inspections Kiosks (PIK) at airports."

PIKs are digital border processing systems used to verify passengers' identities and process customs declarations.

The agency announced that it is currently working with partners to fix the problem. "We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience," officials added.

The announcement was made this morning, May 18, 2026, at 09:02 AM. The CBSA's job is to facilitate the flow of legitimate travelers and trade through over 100 acts and regulations, and through the necessary technological infrastructure and framework to process travelers, screen them for admissibility, and manage commercial cargo and trade that enter or leave the country.
