Winter has arrived in full force. Early this morning, heavy rains began in the Sharon and Dan regions, including heavy hail in Tel Aviv. The rains were also accompanied by lightning and thunder.
The peak rainfall has been measured so far in the Sharon region, where about 30 to 50 mm have accumulated in less than two hours. However, by the end of the day, an impressive amount of 75 mm is expected to be measured in some areas.
Strong rains are expected throughout the day in Sharon, Dan, and the lowlands, and there may still be flooding in many areas, especially in the southern coastal plain.
The meteorological service defines the current rain system as short but significant. In several areas of the country, rains are also expected on Shabbat, and these may intensify throughout the day and into the evening hours.
On Sunday and Monday, the last remnants of rain will fall mainly in the north of the country, accompanied by lightning and thunder. In other parts of the country, the weather will stabilize.
