Rail service operated by NJ Transit has been suspended into and out of Penn Station after a brush fire broke out near one of the Hudson River tunnels.

According to NJ Transit, Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to Hoboken Terminal while emergency crews respond to the incident.

Officials said NJ Transit rail tickets and passes are currently being cross-honored on NJ Transit buses, private carrier buses, and PATH services at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken, and 33rd Street in Manhattan.

Passengers were advised to expect disruptions and use alternate transportation options while service remains suspended.

NJ Transit directed customers to its travel advisory page for updated alternate service information as conditions continue to evolve.

The incident follows last week's service disruptions through the same station following a fire that broke out near the terminal
