Birmingham City Council has issued a travel advisory amid Aston Villa’s Europa League victory celebrations that are expected to cause major travel disruption across Birmingham on Thursday as thousands of fans prepare to line the streets for the club’s parade.
The celebrations are set to affect transport links across the city center and Jewellery Quarter before, during and after the event.
"The parade will begin on Branston Street in the Jewellery Quarter at approximately 4.30pm and cover a route of approximately 4.5km, taking in Sand Pits, Broad Street and Centenary Square. The parade is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes," explained the football club.
Officials warned that multiple road closures will be in place throughout the day, with disruptions also expected on bus routes and West Midlands Metro services. Travelers have been advised to allow extra time for journeys and check the latest transport updates before heading into the city.
The council directed supporters and residents to the club's official event guide for detailed information on the parade route, planned closures and access restrictions.
Transport authorities are also urging commuters to monitor live service updates as heavy crowds and increased traffic are expected across Birmingham during the celebrations.
