The Ministry of Tourism is hosting journalist-runners for the Dead Sea Marathon taking place tomorrow.

The Ministry of Tourism is hosting 10 journalists and opinion leaders for the Dead Sea Marathon, set to take place tomorrow in the Tamar Regional Council.

Prominent figures from the global running and sports industry have arrived from Italy, France, Switzerland, England, Russia, and Germany. They will not only cover the event but also participate in the races, competing in 10K, half marathon, and full marathon categories.

During their visit to Israel, journalists will explore Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and Ein Gedi in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Tamar Regional Council.

This initiative aims to position Israel as a premier travel destination, with a special emphasis on sports tourism. Their participation in the marathon and media coverage are expected to attract new audiences, strengthen Israel’s global image, and support the post-war recovery of the tourism industry.

The Dead Sea Marathon, now in its sixth consecutive year, offers a one-of-a-kind running experience at the lowest point on earth. The scenic route crosses dirt embankments over the sea, providing breathtaking views.

The race will begin at Ein Bokek Beach and this year will feature over 8,000 participants, including running groups from security forces and reserve soldiers. Competitors will take on five race distances, ranging from 5 km to a 50 km ultra-marathon.

Aligned with the policy of Tourism Minister Haim Katz, the Ministry of Tourism continues to promote Israel as a prime travel destination, even in challenging times. Over the next year, the ministry plans to host hundreds of journalists and decision-makers from around the world to boost international tourism.

Over the past year, the Ministry of Tourism has participated in 10 major international tourism fairs, engaging in meetings with leading travel companies, agents, and airline representatives.

Ministry officials have observed a growing interest from airlines and global tourism wholesalers, who are eager to reestablish Israel as a key destination on the international tourism map.
