Hermes Airports continues to lead in the field of sustainability and innovation with a groundbreaking initiative: the company has received European Union approval for the installation of Electric Ground Power Units at Cyprus's international airports. The project is part of the European Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility program and was selected as one of the 39 chosen projects within the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program.
What's in the project?
- At Larnaca Airport, 14 stationary electrical units and 17 mobile units will be installed.
- At Paphos Airport, 17 stationary electrical units and 5 mobile units will be installed.
Why is it important?
- Reducing noise and pollutant emissions during aircraft stays at the airport.
- Improving the energy efficiency of the airports.
- Providing alternative fuel for aircraft during their ground time, moving towards greener technologies.
