In the plan: Reduction of carbon dioxide emissions at the airports of Cyprus.
As part of the green revolution of Cyprus airports, Hermes Airports received approval from the European Union to participate in a project to install Electric Ground Power Units at Cyprus's international airports.
The project, funded as part of the EU's alternative fuel infrastructures, is included in the "Connecting Europe Facility" (CEF) initiative and Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF), with an investment of 3.6 million euros.
As part of the project, 14 stationary ground power units and 17 mobile ones will be installed at Larnaca airport, and 17 stationary units alongside 5 mobile ones at Paphos airport.
The new infrastructure will allow aircraft to use electricity while waiting instead of running engines or diesel units, which is expected to reduce noise and environmental pollution.

The company plans to adopt additional environmental solutions in the coming years as part of the sustainable development policy of Larnaca and Paphos airports.
