Air France marks 90 years of activity and elegance with a unique exhibition titled "Air France, A History of Elegance" opening on February 16, 2025, at the L’Envol des Pionniers center in Toulouse.
The exhibition highlights Air France’s rich history and its profound influence on the aviation world, seamlessly blending design, fashion, and innovation.
Visitors will embark on a fascinating journey through time, featuring an exceptional display of historical crew uniforms designed by Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, and Christian Lacroix.
Additionally, the exhibition presents original Air France advertising posters, luxury dining ware from premium cabins, and aircraft models tracing the airline’s fleet evolution, offering a captivating glimpse into its legacy.
@Christoph Oliver Fabian Pelous, Customer Experience Director at Air France, emphasized the importance of the event, saying:
"This exhibition demonstrates the richness of Air France's heritage and our ability to innovate and upgrade the flight experience while maintaining the elegance identified with our company."
Also, Arnaud Meunier, Director of the L’Envol des Pionniers center, highlighted the historical significance of holding the exhibition at this site:
"It is a source of immense pride and a unique opportunity to present Air France's history at a site where the company served the aviation world for years. Holding the exhibition at the L’Envol des Pionniers museum in Toulouse was a natural choice for us."
Air France also lands at Galeries Lafayette in Toulouse
On the occasion of the exhibition's opening, Air France collaborates with Galeries Lafayette in Toulouse, displaying some of the iconic exhibits in the window of the prestigious department store.
The city's residents will be able to admire historical aircrew uniforms, classic advertising posters, and participate in a unique raffle held until March 2, 2025, with a particularly worthwhile prize: pair tickets to one of seven selected cities – Casablanca, Dakar, Rome, Tokyo, New York, Rio de Janeiro, and London.
@Christoph Oliver About L’Envol des Pionniers and SEMECCEL
The L’Envol des Pionniers center, located in Toulouse-Montaudran, is dedicated to aviation pioneers and companies that took part in the development of civil aviation, including Lignes Aériennes Latécoère, Compagnie Générale Aéropostale, and eventually Air France. The site previously served as a departure base for Aéropostale planes on their way to Africa and South America between 1918-1933.
Opened in 2018, the center is operated by SEMECCEL, a semi-public company founded by the Toulouse municipality. It partners with industry leaders such as Airbus, CNES (the French space agency), Météo-France, and Thales Alenia Space, along with key financial institutions. Additionally, it collaborates with the Air France Museum, the Latécoère Foundation, OpenAirlines, and other organizations to celebrate and preserve France’s rich aviation heritage.
More than a tribute to Air France’s illustrious past, this exhibition highlights the airline’s dedication to premium service, innovation, and timeless elegance. It offers visitors a unique glimpse into the intersection of luxury, fashion, and aviation—hallmarks that have solidified Air France’s status as a global leader.
The exhibition is open to the public until the end of March 2025.
