airBaltic has reported its strongest May on record, carrying 466,500 passengers across its network during the month as demand for travel continued to grow.
The Latvian carrier said passenger numbers increased by 2% compared with May 2025, making it the busiest May in the airline's history. At the same time, the airline operated 4,407 flights, up 3.4% year-on-year.
Despite the increase in capacity, airBaltic maintained a load factor of 77.8%, only slightly below the level recorded during the same month last year.
Ongoing Expansion
The strong performance also contributed to a record-breaking start to the year. Between January and May, the airline carried 1.95 million passengers, a 4.5% increase compared with the same period in 2025 and the highest passenger volume ever recorded by airBaltic during the first five months of a year.
Flight activity also continued to expand, with the carrier operating 19,100 flights during the January–May period, up 4.7% year-on-year.
The results build on a record 2025 for the airline, when it transported 5.2 million passengers and operated 48,300 flights, both all-time highs for the company.
Founded in 1995, airBaltic has grown into one of Europe's fastest-expanding carriers and currently connects the Baltic region with around 80 destinations across Europe and beyond. The airline operates a fleet of 55 Airbus A220-300 aircraft and recently became the first European airline to introduce free high-speed Starlink internet across its flights.
The latest figures suggest demand remains strong heading into the peak summer travel season, with airBaltic continuing to expand its presence in the European market while maintaining high aircraft utilization and network growth.
