Hamburg Airport experienced a temporary disruption on Friday, June 12, 2026, after authorities ordered the evacuation of the passenger terminal as part of a precautionary security measure carried out by the Federal Police.
According to the airport, all passengers in the affected area were instructed to leave the terminal immediately while additional security screening was conducted. During the operation, departing flights were temporarily suspended, although arriving aircraft were still permitted to land as scheduled.
Airport officials advised passengers to remain in contact with their airlines for updated departure information as operations were adjusted in real time.
No further details have been released regarding the reason for the precautionary measure.
In a separate incident reported by the Federal Police at Hamburg Airport, authorities confirmed the arrest of a 52-year-old Macedonian national who arrived on a flight from Skopje. The man was stopped during routine border control checks at around 9:00 in the morning.
Officers discovered that the passenger was subject to an active arrest warrant issued by the public prosecutor’s office in Freiburg. The warrant dated back to November 2022 and related to a case of driving without a valid license.
Authorities said the man had been fined the equivalent of 70 daily rates of 50 euros, totaling 3,500 euros. However, part of the penalty remained unpaid, leaving an outstanding balance of 1,750 euros.
The warrant specified an alternative sentence of 35 days in prison if the fine was not paid. Unable to cover the remaining amount immediately, the man contacted an acquaintance who later paid the outstanding sum at a police station in Hamburg Harburg.
Following the payment and completion of all necessary police procedures, the individual was released and permitted to enter Germany.
