The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that it is preparing for unusual passenger traffic in the coming days, amid the start of the summer travel season and the sharp increase in passenger traffic at airports across the country.
The agency said in a statement that more than 3 million passengers are expected to pass through security checkpoints each day on Thursday, June 18, and Sunday, June 21. The TSA noted that teams across the country are prepared to respond to the expected high demand.
The summer season is traditionally one of the busiest times for the U.S. airline industry, with millions of travelers taking family vacations, business trips and leisure trips across the United States and around the world. In recent years, the number of passengers passing through security checkpoints has repeatedly reached new records, as part of the ongoing recovery in demand for air travel.
The TSA's current forecast indicates a continuation of the strong trend in the American aviation industry, with the country's major airports expected to face significant congestion over the coming weekend.
