The British Foreign Office (FCDO) today (Monday, June 22, 2026) published an update to its travel warnings for Turkey in relation to expected traffic disruptions following the NATO summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8.

The FCDO warns that the upcoming summit will lead to significant disruption to traffic in and around the city, including road closures, changes to public transport routes and access restrictions to central areas. Airports are also expected to operate under increased security, which could cause delays in screening and boarding times.

According to the guidelines, travelers planning to arrive in the area during the period are asked to arrive at the airport early, ensure their documents are ready in advance, and prepare for longer-than-usual wait times due to strict security checks.

It is important to remember that no trip is considered completely safe, and it is always recommended to carefully review official warning guidelines and obtain appropriate travel insurance that includes coverage for emergencies and unexpected changes.
