Just six weeks into the year, Budapest Airport adds a new airline to its already extensive flight schedule.

SCAT Airlines will operate direct flights between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan, starting on May 27, thereby adding a new and unique destination to the growing portfolio of Hungary's capital airport.

SCAT Airlines will operate the new Route twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8200 aircraft, ensuring a comfortable and innovative flying experience for passengers.

The new Route is intended to operate year-round starting in May, providing travelers from Hungary direct access to one of Kazakhstan's main economic and cultural centers.

"The new Route to Shymkent is a significant milestone for Budapest Airport, further strengthening the air links between Central Asia and Hungary," said Francois Brisseau, CEO of Budapest Airport. "We are delighted to welcome SCAT Airlines to Budapest and look forward to the launch of the Route, which will benefit both business and leisure travelers, creating new opportunities for tourism, economy, and trade between the countries."

Shymkent, with its unique gastronomy and atmosphere blending modernity and tradition, is a fascinating destination among the variety of flights departing from Budapest. The city, once an important stop on the Silk Road, remains a significant economic center and a prominent tourist site, with authentic markets, traditional tea houses, and renowned baths. It also serves as a gateway to the beautiful landscapes of southern Kazakhstan.

From Budapest Airport, it was announced that "With the addition of SCAT Airlines, passengers departing from Budapest will enjoy a wider range of flight options and convenient connections to additional cities in the region."
