Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, woke up this morning (Monday, February 17, 2025) to a white morning, as snow began to fall during the night and continued into the daytime. A snow layer of 4-6 cm has already accumulated on the city's streets, with temperatures ranging between -2°C and -6°C.

Meanwhile, Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, is dealing with the first snow in weeks. Light snow fell during the night and continued through the morning. Even though the snow is not particularly heavy, ice accumulation on roads and sidewalks poses a hazard to traffic. Authorities have declared winter weather warnings until midnight, advising pedestrians and drivers to be cautious of slipping.
Temperatures in Belgrade range from -1°C to -3°C, with cold weather expected to remain in the coming days. The Danube's water level has risen slightly, but there is no risk of flooding at this stage.
Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, experienced a mix of rain and snow during the morning, with temperatures hovering around just 1°C. The precipitation isn't significant, but freezing conditions are causing ice to accumulate on streets, complicating pedestrian and vehicular movement. Many drivers are required to use snow chains in mountainous areas of the city.

Also in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, there is severe cold and snow. The weather remains particularly cold, with temperatures of -2°C in the morning and a slight increase during the day.
The forecast for the rest of the week indicates the possibility of additional snow in these cities and neighboring ones, with further drops in temperatures.
