Hilton has reported ongoing progress under its global “Travel with Purpose” strategy, according to its 2025 impact update. The brand highlighted measurable advances toward its 2030 environmental and social responsibility goals.
The hospitality group says the strategy remains central to the way it operates across its global portfolio of 144 countries and territories, mixing sustainability initiatives, workforce development and community investment into a single long-term framework aimed at creating value for business performance and social impact.
Strong Progress Toward 2030 Climate Targets
Hilton reported continued reductions in key environmental metrics against a 2008 baseline, including a 50.9% drop in carbon emissions intensity for managed hotels and a 36.0% reduction in franchised properties. Water intensity in managed operations decreased by 37.1%, while landfill waste intensity fell by 64.7%, surpassing its 2030 goal ahead of schedule.
The company also confirmed ongoing alignment with science-based climate targets and international ISO standards as it continues scaling efficiency upgrades across its global hotel network.
Investing in People and Communities
Hilton’s social impact work also expanded in 2025, with more than 686,000 learning and career development opportunities created for team members and over 2.5 million community members impacted worldwide. The company also logged more than 1.8 million volunteer hours globally.
Through its Hilton Global Foundation, Hilton has awarded more than $22 million in grants since 2019, supporting food security, disaster response and community resilience programs. In 2025 alone, initiatives helped distribute over 2.3 million meals and divert 2.1 million pounds of waste from landfill.
During the Los Angeles wildfires, Hilton provided 20,000 complimentary hotel nights to support more than 7,000 displaced people, mobilizing staff across 80 hotels to assist emergency response efforts.
“Through Travel with Purpose, we’re making meaningful, measurable progress across our people, our hotels and our communities,” said Katherine Lugar, EVP of Corporate Affairs and president of the Hilton Global Foundation. She added that the initiative reflects how purpose is embedded into Hilton’s long-term growth and competitiveness.
Sustainable Hotel Innovation
The company also highlighted new sustainable property developments, including Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport, which features geothermal energy, over 600 solar panels and 100% renewable electricity, and holds multiple sustainability certifications including BREEAM Excellent and WELL Gold.
Hilton also launched its first Travel with Purpose Awards, recognizing 40 hotel teams for outstanding environmental and community impact.
