Severe storm damage has caused major disruption on Transilien Line J, prompting Île-de-France regional president Valérie Pécresse to call for urgent replacement bus services between Les Mureaux and Poissy.
In a public statement on social media, Pécresse said that around 800 meters of overhead catenary wires were damaged during Saturday’s storm, warning that repairs would take several days under emergency conditions. She added that passengers had already faced significant disruption on the line and described growing frustration among commuters.
The disruption follows earlier operational issues on the same line, including damage affecting multiple trains linked to a fault involving a switch mechanism, according to her remarks.
Replacement Transport Demanded Amid Extended Repairs
Pécresse urged France’s national rail operator SNCF to deploy replacement buses to maintain connectivity between affected stations while repair work continues.
She said commuters were “rightly exasperated” by repeated disruptions and called on the operator to take stronger action to restore reliable service.
Authorities have not yet provided a full timeline for when normal train operations on the affected section of Line J will resume, though repairs are expected to take several days due to the scale of infrastructure damage.
The latest disruption adds to ongoing pressure on regional rail services in Île-de-France, where weather-related incidents and technical faults have increasingly impacted punctuality and capacity in recent years.
Line J, which connects Paris with suburbs in the northwestern Île-de-France region, is a key commuter route, and prolonged disruptions have a significant impact on daily travel patterns.
