The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a Kodiak 100 seaplane made a hard landing in the East River near Brooklyn, New York, around noon local time on Sunday, July 5.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft landed hard on the water, causing one of its wing struts to snap.

There were eight people on board at the time of the incident.

No information on injuries or the condition of those aboard was immediately released.

The FAA said it will investigate the circumstances surrounding the hard landing to determine what led to the incident.

The Kodiak 100 is a single-engine utility aircraft that is commonly used for regional passenger service, cargo operations, and seaplane flights. The investigation is expected to examine the aircraft, weather conditions, and other operational factors as part of the agency's standard review process.
