In the alert issued on July 9, 2026, the embassy instructed people to seek overhead cover, shelter in place, and remain indoors while monitoring local authorities for further updates.
The embassy said it is continuing to assess the situation and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
U.S. citizens were also advised to monitor local media, remain aware of their surroundings, and stay alert for any unusual activity. Travelers whose flights may be affected were urged to contact their airlines directly for the latest information.
The embassy reminded anyone facing an immediate emergency in Jordan to contact local police by dialing 911.
