ITA Airways Launches Codeshare Flights with Lufthansa Group.

ITA Airways has officially begun selling tickets for codeshare flights with five airlines from the Lufthansa Group, starting on March 30, 2025. This collaboration allows passengers to book a single ticket for combined flights, check in at their departure airport, and collect their baggage at their final destination, ensuring a smoother and more efficient travel experience.

This agreement is expected to significantly expand travel options for ITA Airways customers, providing access to over 100 new destinations across Europe and beyond. Among the newly available routes are direct flights connecting Rome and Milan to key destinations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and other locations throughout Europe.

Joerg Eberhart, CEO of ITA Airways, stated: “The partnership with Lufthansa Group is a major step in expanding our flight network and enhancing the customer experience. Passengers will benefit from access to a wider range of destinations while enjoying the high-quality standards and luxury associated with both ITA Airways and the Lufthansa Group.”

Additionally, Lufthansa Group passengers will gain easier access to Italy’s most popular tourist destinations, including Sicily, Sardinia, Calabria, and Apulia. ITA Airways’ Volare loyalty program will allow members to earn and redeem points on flights operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines. Likewise, members of Miles & More, Lufthansa Group’s frequent flyer program, will be able to enjoy similar benefits on ITA Airways flights.

This new collaboration marks the first step in integrating ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group, following the completion of the acquisition that brought the Italian airline under the German company’s wing.

This initiative follows a series of previous collaborations between ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group, including Lufthansa’s purchase of 41% of ITA Airways’ shares for €325 million and ITA Airways’ recent transition from the SkyTeam alliance to Star Alliance. These developments further solidify the growing partnership between the two companies and enhance travel options for passengers.

ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group continue to work on expanding their commercial agreements and are expected to announce additional flight routes ahead of the upcoming summer season.
