The new payment option allows travelers booking flights through emirates.com or the Emirates mobile app to pay using their Crypto.com wallets, marking a significant milestone in the airline's digital transformation strategy and reinforcing Dubai's ambitions to become a global fintech hub.
The launch follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Emirates and Crypto.com in July 2025. One year later, the partnership has moved from concept to implementation, enabling customers to complete transactions securely while complying with UAE regulatory requirements.
Initially, Crypto.com Pay is available exclusively to eligible UAE residents making bookings priced and settled in Emirati dirhams (AED). Customers can choose the payment option during checkout and seamlessly complete their purchases using the Crypto.com application.
According to Emirates, the move is designed to meet the changing expectations of travelers, particularly younger generations who increasingly manage finances and travel arrangements through digital platforms.
Emirates X Crypto.com. Photo: Emirates Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the rollout demonstrates the airline's commitment to expanding payment choices while keeping pace with evolving consumer preferences.
Crypto.com President and Chief Operating Officer Eric Anziani described the collaboration as a major milestone for the company's payment platform and highlighted the UAE's innovation-friendly regulatory environment.
The integration is facilitated through Crypto.com's Dubai entity, which became the first Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) to receive a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) licence from the Central Bank of the UAE.
The payment process has been designed to be straightforward. Mobile users selecting Crypto.com Pay™ in the Emirates app are redirected to the Crypto.com app to authorize the transaction before returning to receive their e-ticket and booking confirmation. Desktop users can scan a QR code displayed during checkout and approve the payment via their Crypto.com wallet.
The initiative aligns closely with the Dubai Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims for 90% of all financial transactions across public and private sectors to be digital by the end of 2026.
The launch also builds on Emirates' broader digital payment ambitions, including its partnership with Dubai Finance, while Crypto.com continues expanding its footprint in the emirate through collaborations with government entities.
With cryptocurrency adoption continuing to grow globally, Emirates' latest move positions the airline at the forefront of digital payment innovation in the aviation industry, potentially paving the way for wider acceptance of digital assets in travel transactions in the years ahead.
