American Airlines experienced a temporary technology disruption on Tuesday evening (July 28, 2026) that briefly impacted connectivity across some of its operational systems, prompting the airline to issue a short ground stop while teams worked to restore services.

In a statement shared on social media, the carrier said the issue affected "some of our systems" and led to a pause in departures as a precautionary measure.

"A technology issue briefly impacted connectivity for some of our systems on Tuesday evening. Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again," the airline said.

The company added that the temporary ground stop was implemented to allow technical teams to address the problem and ensure operations could safely resume.

American Airlines apologized to customers affected by the disruption, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption.

The carrier has not yet provided additional details regarding the cause of the outage or whether it was linked to an internal technical failure or an external service provider.

As of Tuesday night, operations were gradually returning to normal across the airline's network, with passengers advised to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.

Further information is expected to be released if the airline identifies the root cause of the connectivity issue.
