Photo: Ian Dewar Photography / Shutterstock Amtrak has announced the temporary cancellation of all Empire Service trains between Penn Station in New York (NYP) and Albany (ALB), following flooding and debris accumulation on the tracks caused by recent storms.
According to the company's announcement, train service on the line is expected to remain suspended until at least 3:00 PM (local time), while maintenance crews work to address the hazards and safely restore traffic.
Amtrak said passengers affected by the cancellations can rebook their trip for a later date, at no additional charge, or cancel their ticket and receive a full refund. The company noted that all relevant passengers will receive updates directly via SMS messages, email, and the Amtrak app, and recommended that passengers check the status of the train before departing.
