According to the airline, following the incident, the plane returned to stable flight and continued on to safely land at Delhi Airport at 11:07 AM (India time).
The Airbus A320neo was carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members. As a result of the incident, 13 passengers and four crew members were injured and taken to hospitals for examination and further treatment.
As of the update released by Air India at 6:50 PM, five passengers have already been discharged from the hospital, while the others continue to receive medical care. The airline's teams are present at the hospitals, supporting the injured and their families.
Air India stated that regulatory authorities were informed of the incident as per safety protocols. The airline is fully cooperating with the investigation, and the aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, has also been notified.
The company stated: “Air India’s foremost priority remains the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew. We will continue to support those affected and their families and will work closely with the relevant authorities throughout the course of the investigation.”
