The Greek safety authorities have decided to allow schools in Santorini to reopen their doors tomorrow (3/4/25). This is good news for the locals, as the decision is based on assessments that no significant earthquakes are expected to occur soon on the island and its vicinity.
It should be noted that since January, more than a thousand earthquakes of moderate strength, between 4 and 5.5, have been recorded, raising fears of a powerful earthquake that could erupt, which led to mass evacuation from the island. More than 11,000 out of 15,000 residents of Santorini left, mainly to Athens. Most have returned to the island in the last two weeks.

If the situation remains as it is and perhaps even improves, the popular and romantic island may return to full routine and find itself saved from a tourism crisis in the upcoming tourist season.
