Pegasus Airlines, the Turkish low-cost airline that has not flown to Israel since the outbreak of the war, continues to expand its fleet with next-generation aircraft and has made a significant investment in line with its goal to become a leading global player.
After comprehensive assessments of aircraft requirements for 2028 and the next decade, the company signed an agreement with Boeing for 200 Boeing 737-10 aircraft. According to the agreement, Pegasus Airlines placed an order for the first 100 Boeing 737-10 airplanes for delivery starting in 2028, with 100 additional purchase options, which can be converted into orders in the future. The total agreement value for 200 Boeing 737-10 aircraft is about 36 billion dollars, based on Boeing's current price list.
The largest order in the airline's history not only supports its growth targets but also serves as an important step towards achieving its sustainability goals for 2050. This aircraft order, signed with Boeing, is evidence of the strong and significant cooperation already existing between the parties in the aviation field. This agreement constitutes an important step toward establishing new partnerships and strengthening those existing ones, both locally and internationally.
In a statement regarding the signed agreement, Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines said: "As a leading stakeholder in our country's tourism sector, creating net cash flow and the highest added value for our country and showing record growth post-pandemic, we are working tirelessly to reach new heights and do our part for Turkey to achieve the goal of 100 million visitors and 100 billion dollars in tourism revenues; we continue to invest in our fleet in line with our growth targets in Turkey and globally, and expand our network by launching new routes and ranking among airlines with the world's youngest fleet.
As part of our agreement with Boeing, we ordered a total of 200 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, with the first 100 aircraft, for which we made firm orders, starting to join our fleet from 2028. We will evaluate the conversion of the remaining 100 options into firm orders in the coming years, based on market conditions and our fleet needs.
Boeing aircraft have been an integral part of our operations since the company's entry into the aviation industry in 1990. We are pleased to expand our fleet with the new Boeing 737-10 model. We are confident our cooperation will create new opportunities for local production, technology transfer, R&D, training, and employment in the Turkish aviation industry.
Our order will also open new doors and create production and export opportunities both for Turkish manufacturers and for the broader aviation industry."
