Vilnius. Photo: Shutterstock The aviation market in Lithuania continues to grow at an impressive pace: the country's three main airports, Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, handled almost 756,000 passengers in July 2026, the highest monthly figure ever recorded in the Lithuanian airport network. (LTOU)
This is the seventh consecutive month in which a new record has been broken. In June, almost 742,000 passengers passed through the three airports, and in July the growth trend continued with an increase of about 10% in the number of passengers compared to July 2025.
Even looking at the first seven months of the year, the picture is strong: passenger traffic is about 9% higher than the same period in 2025, a year that was itself a record year for the country's airports.
Vilnius Airport recorded the sharpest growth in July. More than 550,000 passengers passed through it during the month, an increase of 11.6% compared to July last year.
Kaunas Airport handled almost 161,000 passengers, an increase of 4.3%, while Palanga Airport handled about 45,000 passengers, an increase of 7.3%. All three airports surpassed their record results recorded the previous July.
The increase in traffic comes alongside a relatively broad route network. During July, passengers were offered 86 direct flight destinations from the three airports: 54 from Vilnius, 26 from Kaunas and six from Palanga.
LTOU emphasizes that the record streak is not seen as a one-off event but as a continuous growth trend. According to Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautevičė, acting CEO of Lithuanian Airports, the goal is to continue expanding flight options for the country's residents while simultaneously strengthening Lithuania's international accessibility.
It's not just the number of passengers that is on the rise. During July, the three airports handled almost 5,700 flights, an increase of 8.3% compared to July 2025.
More than 4,000 of the flights passed through Vilnius Airport, which also recorded the sharpest increase in the number of flights, 9.2% compared to the same period last year. The number of flights increased at all three airports.
July's data reinforces the momentum of aviation in Lithuania: seven months into 2026, and seven consecutive monthly records, as the country continues to expand both its passenger traffic and air connectivity.
