AirTrain. Photo: George Wirt / Shutterstock.com JFK Airport has today, August 11, warned travelers of a partial AirTrain disruption overnight on August 11–12, with free shuttle buses replacing part of the service.
According to the airport, essential maintenance will affect AirTrain service between Howard Beach, Lefferts Boulevard and Federal Circle from 11 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, until 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 12.
Free shuttle buses will operate between the affected stations. AirTrain service will continue between Jamaica Station, Federal Circle and all airline terminals, as well as within the Central Terminal Area.
JFK advises passengers using public transportation to travel via Jamaica Station, while travelers using long-term parking at Lefferts Boulevard should use the free shuttle service. The airport is also advising passengers to allow additional travel time.
The airport said the work could be postponed in the event of bad weather, with a contingency maintenance period scheduled for August 12–13 if necessary.
