From Southern Spain to Northern Italy: Low-Cost Airline Launches New Route

Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport has welcomed a new direct connection to Verona, expanding travel options between southern Spain and northern Italy.

The new route, operated by Volotea, was celebrated with an inaugural event at the airport, where passengers were greeted with a sweet table before boarding. Aena says the connection will operate four times a week, giving travelers more opportunities to travel between Málaga and Verona.

The service adds another international option at Málaga-Costa del Sol, which currently connects passengers with 166 destinations operated by 66 companies, according to airport operator Aena.

For travelers, the new route creates a convenient link between the Costa del Sol and Verona, making it easier to combine a Spanish beach holiday with a trip to northern Italy.

Volotea is a Barcelona-based airline founded in 2011. The company operated its first flight on April 5, 2012. A decade later, the airline celebrated carrying 75 million passengers across Europe "thanks to a top-notch team and a philosophy based on offering a pleasant travel experience at competitive prices."

Volotea's fleet consists of Airbus aircraft featuring CFM International CFM56-5B engines, and counting between 156 to 180 seats. The company's A319s and A320s are based in Italy's Verona, Nantes and Toulouse (France), and other locations.
