Transportation Chaos in Paris.
A bomb that did not explode from World War II was discovered this morning (Friday) near the railway tracks in the Saint-Denis area of France.
As a result, authorities suspended train traffic in major areas, including the Eurostar route between Paris and London, where all scheduled trains for today were canceled, as well as the RER B route, which connects central Paris to major points outside it – including Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), and other regional routes.
The suspension affects the segment between Gare du Nord station and Stade de France, impacting major stations in Paris, including Gare du Nord, Châtelet–Les Halles, and Saint-Michel – Notre-Dame, which serve many passengers heading to the airport. As an alternative, the Roissy Bus service from Opéra station can now be used at no additional cost.
According to announcements from the route operators, service will not resume until at least the afternoon hours and only after receiving official approval from the authorities. Meanwhile, severe delays and disruptions to the schedules of additional trains in the area were also reported.
RER B updated this morning on its X page: "Train traffic has been halted between Gare du Nord and La Plaine – Stade de France at the instruction of security forces, following the discovery of a bomb that did not explode from World War II near the tracks. Traffic is disrupted along the entire line. Service renewal is not expected before the afternoon hours, with the receipt of approval from the authorities".
