The strike in Germany is expanding and intensifying: On Monday, March 10, thousands of flight cancellations are expected.
After several recent strikes at airports in Germany that caused disruptions and cancellations of flights in Munich, Düsseldorf, and Cologne/Bonn in recent weeks, the trade union ver.di has now called for ground service workers at many airports in Germany to participate in a 24-hour warning strike today, March 10.
According to a statement from Berlin Airport: "Due to the work stoppage, unfortunately, all flights will need to be suspended on this day. All departures and arrivals will be affected by the strike."
It was also reported that Berlin Brandenburg Airport advises affected passengers to contact their airline for information on changing flight options.
"We regret the cancellation of planned flights on Monday for all affected passengers. Due to the work stoppage, unfortunately, flights from Berlin cannot be operated on Monday," said Alta von Masenbach, chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Berlin Airport Company.
On the website of Frankfurt Airport, it stated: "Due to a strike by the German union, airport operations by ver.di will be heavily disrupted at Frankfurt Airport on Monday, March 10. Passengers are advised to avoid traveling to the airport. Passengers should check with their airlines about the flight status before heading to the airport."
On the website of Munich Airport, it was noted: "The trade union ver.di is calling on workers at airports across Germany to participate in the strike. Munich Airport is also affected. On Monday, March 10, 2025, significant disruptions to regular passenger traffic are expected. Airlines are currently working on special flight schedules."
EL-AL stated that flights to Germany are canceled. The flight to Munich on Tuesday has been increased to provide a response. Passengers whose flights on Monday are canceled are invited to contact the booking center to find an alternative flight.
On the Lufthansa website, it was noted that "the Lufthansa Group and its airlines are not part of the collective bargaining negotiations in the dispute with the ver.di labor union, but - like many other airlines - they are affected by the dispute. There will be widespread delays and cancellations of flights by all airlines in the Lufthansa Group to and from the airport during the strike times."
The Lufthansa Group has published a special flight schedule with the aim of returning to a stable flight schedule as soon as possible after the end of the strike.
