One person has died after a small plane made an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard in Prince George, British Columbia, and collided with two vehicles, according to the Prince George RCMP.
Police were notified at approximately 2:20 p.m. on August 20, 2026, that a small aircraft had made an emergency landing on the highway about 1.5 kilometres north of North Nechako Road.
When officers arrived, they determined that two vehicles were also involved in the incident. Police confirmed that one person, an occupant of one of the vehicles, had died.
The RCMP said the potential injuries among occupants of the other vehicle and people aboard the aircraft were initially unknown.
Crews from Prince George Fire Rescue, RCMP and BC Ambulance remained at the scene as emergency services responded to the incident.
Foothills Boulevard has been closed to traffic in both directions. Authorities said the closure would remain in place overnight and into Friday, with drivers advised to plan for alternate routes.
The RCMP is also asking members of the public to stay away from the area while investigators and emergency crews work at the scene.
Corporal Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer with Prince George RCMP, described the incident as an active investigation and urged the public to give first responders enough space to work safely.
Police also warned that unnecessary visitors to the scene can place additional demands on officers, who may have to monitor access points rather than focus entirely on the investigation and other emergency calls.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) will take over the investigation into the aviation incident.
