Photo: MSC As tall as a building: MSC Cruises has completed the installation of a giant dragon sculpture aboard its new flagship, MSC World Asia , ahead of the start of sailings later this year. The sculpture, 12 meters long and 3.5 meters wide, hangs about 10 meters above the Outdoor World Promenade area.
The dragon is made of stainless steel with a pearl-white finish, and incorporates nearly 700 mirrors, 400 meters of LED lighting, and more than 3,000 bulbs.
At nightfall, it will be illuminated and become a central element of the ship's exterior space, where passengers will enjoy restaurants, entertainment, relaxation areas and sea views.
The dragon on board the MSC World Asios. Photo: MSCThe sculpture was designed by Balich Wonder Studio, an international creative studio, and is intended to integrate into MSC World Asia's design concept, which draws inspiration from the culture, art, and landscapes of Asia.
The dragon on board the MSC World Asios. Photo: MSCMSC World Asia is currently under construction at a shipyard in France. The ship is expected to set sail on its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean on December 4, 2026, and will be the third in MSC Cruises' World Class series.
The series combines European design with international influences, and offers passengers a wide variety of restaurants, entertainment shows and family attractions.
According to Marco Balich, Chairman of Balich Wonder Studio, the Dragon is designed to connect vision, art and emotion and create an experience for passengers that will stay with them even after the cruise ends.
