London Gatwick Airport is being renewed.
The airport management announced today (13.3.25) a large-scale project to expand Pier 6 at the airport, which includes eight new boarding gates for aircraft.
The new project, which is estimated to cost about 140 million pounds (about 180 million dollars), is expected to enhance the airport experience for passengers, but also to contribute to sustainability and energy efficiency by reducing bus trips on the airport's airfield.
According to the airport's announcement, this involves about 12,000 bus trips between the terminal and the aircraft, which will significantly contribute to the airport's sustainability trend. "The change is expected to significantly reduce reliance on internal transportation. This step will not only shorten waiting and boarding times but will also contribute to environmental quality," said the management of London Gatwick.

Cedric Laurier, the Chief Technical Officer of London Gatwick: "The construction is complex as it is located in the heart of our field, but we have experience in executing large projects in challenging environments at Gatwick. The partnership and experience of Mace is of great value".
