The new route will begin operating on May 12, 2027, and will operate four flights per week, using a Boeing 767-400ER wide-body aircraft.
With the opening of the line, United will be the only American airline to operate direct flights between the US and Ljubljana, a move that Slovenia is defining as a significant milestone for the local tourism industry.
Until now, most passengers from the United States who wanted to reach Slovenia had to take a connecting flight through one of Europe's main airports.
The opening of the direct line from Newark is expected to change the picture and make it significantly easier to reach the country, both for tourists and business travelers.
