Holders of European passports - pay attention.
Starting from April 2, 2025, holders of European passports will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Britain, similar to those wishing to visit the kingdom from Israel who have been required to have travel authorization since the beginning of the year. Applications for authorization for holders of European passports opened last weekend.
According to various publications in the British media, next month the "adaptation period" will also end during which those who arrived in Britain without an ETA were allowed to enter. A tourist arriving without an ETA starting this month - will not be permitted to enter its gates.
What is it anyway?
The ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a digital authorization that allows visitors from visa-exempt countries to enter Britain for short periods, including tourism, family visits, business, and short-term studies.
The authorization is valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first, and allows for a stay of up to six months for each visit.
The application fee is £10 (about 47 shekels) and the quick process can be done through the GOV.UK website or the official UK-ETA app. The approval is usually received very quickly.
