Photo: Ceri Breeze / Shutterstock.com A major fire has broken out at a mixed waste facility on Hannah Close in Neasden, northwest London, with 20 fire engines and around 125 firefighters responding to the incident.
The London Fire Brigade said an industrial unit measuring approximately 100 meters by 150 meters is currently alight, producing a large amount of smoke. Residents in the immediate area have been advised to close their doors and windows and remain indoors where possible.
The Brigade's Control Room received the first of more than 70 emergency calls at 11:34 a.m. Crews from Wembley, Park Royal, Willesden and surrounding stations have been deployed to tackle the blaze.
Three of the Brigade's 32-meter aerial ladders are being used at the scene, alongside the Brigade's Drone Team. Firefighters have also deployed a Hose Laying Unit and a High Volume Pump to increase the water supply available as crews work to bring the fire under control.
The fire is also affecting public transport in the area.
Tube services on both the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines are expected to be impacted while emergency crews respond to the incident. Rail services into London Marylebone are also being disrupted because of the fire.
Passengers traveling through the area are advised to check the latest service information and allow additional time for their journeys.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established, and firefighters remain at the scene dealing with the blaze.a
