The Greek airline Aegean Airlines announced today (14.3.25) an order for 8 additional Airbus A321neo aircraft, increasing its total orders to 58 aircraft from the A320/A321neo family.
Of the total aircraft in the order, 37 will be A321neo models, and 4 will be A321neo LR models for long ranges, designed for flights of up to 7 and a half hours.
So far, 34 aircraft from the A320/A321neo family have been delivered, and 24 additional aircraft, including the new order, are expected to be delivered in the coming years. In 2025, the company represented in Israel by Open Sky has already received one A320neo and plans to receive four more from this family.
It is worth mentioning that in January, about two months ago, the company resumed flights to Israel after a prolonged suspension of flights due to the war.
Dimitris Gruiannis, CEO of Aegean: "Expanding our investment program with an additional order of eight Airbus A321neo aircraft is crucial for achieving our growth targets and strengthening our competitiveness. It is also clear that we have a preference for the version with the larger capacity and the extended range of the A321neo, which will soon make up two-thirds of our fleet... We will bring all the creativity and dedication of our team to provide new services, new destinations, and better travel experiences".
Benoit de Saint-Affrique, Senior Vice President of Sales at Airbus, added: "We are pleased that Aegean, the largest airline in Greece, has chosen the fuel-efficient A321neo again. This decision highlights Aegean's commitment to operational excellence and improving the passenger experience. We appreciate the cooperation with Aegean and look forward to continuing our partnership, supporting their growth plans in Europe and beyond".
