Fukoka, Japan. Photo: Shutterstock Malaysia Airlines has expanded its Japan network with the launch of direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka, giving travelers a new gateway to Kyushu.
The airline is now connecting Kuala Lumpur International Airport with Fukuoka Airport with up to five weekly flights. The new service adds Fukuoka to Malaysia Airlines’ existing Japanese destinations of Tokyo and Osaka, bringing the carrier’s total number of direct gateways into Japan to three.

For Malaysia Airlines, the new route gives travelers another way to reach Japan while providing easier access to the wider Kyushu region.

Its compact urban layout and proximity to the coast also make it an attractive destination for visitors looking to explore the region.
Beyond Fukuoka itself, the new service provides a convenient starting point for discovering other parts of Kyushu. The island is home to a wide range of destinations, giving travelers opportunities to combine a city stay with regional sightseeing.
The launch also strengthens the air link between Malaysia and Japan at a time when travelers are increasingly looking beyond the country's best-known destinations. Fukuoka, in particular, provides access to a part of the country that offers a different experience from the more familiar tourist routes around Tokyo and Osaka.
The airline highlighted the new service as another way for travelers to discover Japan beyond its traditional gateways, while strengthening its network between Kuala Lumpur and the country.
